Who I Am

I am interested in people and food and how they work together. I am a cook and a baker. As a registered dietitian with a master's degree in nutrition, I have consulted, taught and counseled. For many years I was the nutritionist for the cardiac rehab outpatient program at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. There, I worked with our cardiologists and became a certified diabetes educator. I did a lot of interesting group and individual coaching with our patients who were diverse in age, gender and motivation for working on their lifestyle and health. I have also had a private practice, taught group classes with a weight loss focus and had a lot of fun doing cooking classes and food demonstrations.

I love to talk with people about their interests and the foods they do and don't like and what foods make them feel better. I understand the conflicted feelings people often have with food and I empathize. I have expertise in encouraging small changes which in the end make a big difference in so many ways. I am fascinated by the many styles and habits that govern how we eat. I love to cook vegetarian and vegan foods as well as to take advantage of the incredible variety of choices that we are so fortunate to have. I often teach ways to tweak traditional ethnic dishes and styles of cooking to change the balance but without changing how good they taste.

Cooking, eating and good nutritional habits are the foundations to understanding ourselves and making specific changes that work and lead to a happier and healthier relationship with the foods we eat and at the same time, improve our health and well-being.
